Flea market
The Allison Nazarene Church (416 Vernon Ave., Allison) is holding a flea market on Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine. Buy or sell household goods, clothing, equipment, miscellaneous items, food or baked goods. There is free parking and no set-up fee. You can keep all you make or donate a portion to the church. Bring your own tables and chairs. If the event is held indoors, tables will be provided. Call 724-880-9325 and leave a voicemail to register.
Loads of love
Pleasant View Presbyterian Church in Smock is sponsoring Loads of Love at Mod Laundromat, 503 Union St., Brownsville, on Sunday, May 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. Those who need help paying for laundry costs are invited to do their laundry at this time.
Food collection
The Brownsville Area Ministerial Association’s “Food For Falcons” food program is collecting sandwich crackers and Pop-Tarts during the month of June. There will be a donation area in each participating BAMA church, and at the end of the collection period the items will be gathered and taken to the Brownsville First Christian Church to be packed and sent home with selected elementary students.
Praise festival
There will be an organizational meeting Monday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m., for the Brownsville Area Ministerial Association-sponsored 2026 Brownsville Area Praise Festival. Clothing sale
On Wednesday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to noon, the 4 C Ministry of the Republic Christian Church (Route 166, Republic) will be open for the public to come and purchase new and gently used clothing and household supplies. This ministry is located at the garage behind the church.
Strawberry festival
Calvin United Presbyterian Church (307 Spring Street, Brownsville) will be holding its annual Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Included on the menu will be chicken or egg salad sandwiches, ham BBQ sandwiches, strawberry smoothies, strawberry shortcake, strawberries on homemade waffles with ice cream, strawberry bowl with ice cream/whipped cream and iced tea or lemonade. Questions may be directed to 724-880-5078. The public is invited to this church fundraiser.
Community kitchen
The Masontown community kitchen will be open on Tuesday, June 2, between 4 and 5:30 p.m. The meal will be ham salad sandwiches, pasta salad, homemade desserts and Panera breads. Located in the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., meals are provided without charge. Donations are accepted and provide for future meals. Blood drive
There will be a blood drive at the St. Mary’s Social Hall of the St. Peter and St. Cecilia Parish (118 Church Street, Brownsville) on Tuesday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Schedule your appointment at www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
Ostomy group
Penn Highlands Mon Valley offers an Ostomy Support Group the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be held June 18. The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center located at 1163 Country Club Road in Monongahela. Penn Highlands Mon Valley’s Center for Wound Management offers the Ostomy Support Group for those with ostomies as well as their family and friends. There is no cost to participate. Yard sale
Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will host a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19 and 20. Those who bring their own table and set up outside will be charged no fee. If the grange provides a table indoors, vendors will be asked to pay $10. Arts program
Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) invites teens to participate in its ongoing Crafty Conversations program, held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Peter J. Daley Cultural Center, 119 Brownsville Ave., Brownsville. The free sessions offer teens a chance to express themselves artistically. Radio club
The Uniontown Amateur Radio Club holds its meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 7 p.m. at the club building, 433 Old Pittsburgh Road, Uniontown. Women’s meeting
Malden Christian Fellowship, 343 Old National Pike, Brownsville is holding a weekly meeting for women and teenage girls to discuss issues like depression, grief and eating disorders. Meetings are on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Addiction recovery
On Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the addiction recovery ministry There is Hope will be held at Malden Christian Fellowship, 343 Old National Pike, Brownsville. Prayer group
Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville, is holding a weekly prayer group on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. The public is invited.
