This summer, California University of Pennsylvania will unite with Clarion and Edinboro universities to form Pennsylvania Western University, and students are sharing their perceptions on the consolidation through the exhibit 鈥淢ERGE,鈥 which opened simultaneously on all three campuses Tuesday.

In the fall, students were asked to channel their thoughts or feelings on the creation of the new university through the medium of their choice. Open to all students regardless of their major, more than 60 works were submitted for 鈥淢ERGE,鈥 including photographs, poetry and prints. All the art is geared toward confronting the following three questions:

n What does the merger of the three campuses mean to you?

n What is your most powerful campus memory?

n What excites or terrifies you about your education?

The work will be displayed at Cal U鈥檚 Vulcan Hall, and at Clarion鈥檚 Empty Set Gallery and Edinboro鈥檚 Bruce Gallery. Students were required to submit three copies of their work so it could be seen on all three campuses.

鈥淢ERGE鈥 will be on display through March 1. Hours at Vulcan Hall are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
