A number of local student received monetary awards from Alternatives.Yes Pregnancy Support Center in Connellsville as part of the agency鈥檚 pro-life essay contest.
Students were asked to write about 鈥淩eflections on The Sanctity of Human Life.鈥
The winning essay was written by Chase Goletz, a 7th grade student at St. John the Evangelist Regional Catholic School in Uniontown, who won $100. Eighth grade student Ava Fisher, also a St. John student, won second place and $75. Home-schooled student Izzy Miller from Connellsville won third place and received $50.
Four students were awarded honorable mentions and received $25: Paige Dolan, 6th grade at Conn-Area Catholic School in Connellsville; Mallory Clemmer, 7th grade at St. John; Emmi Dedola, 8th grade at St. John; and Dominic Petrovich, 6th grade at St. John.
