Two graduate from Soroptimist Leadership program
MaryLen Hajduk of Uniontown and Lisa Malago of Connellsville, members of Soroptimist International of Fayette County, recently graduated from the Soroptimist Leadership Fellows Program, a year-long leadership development experience designed to strengthen participants’ skills and prepare them to lead with greater confidence and impact.
Hajduk and Malago joined the program in June 2025, beginning with a virtual opening session. They completed the program in person at the 49th Biennial Convention in Incheon, Korea, where graduates were honored at a ceremony with certificates and received their graduation stoles.
Across three interactive sessions, Fellows explored leadership as action rather than position, project planning and management, building inclusive organizations, developing volunteer and employee handbooks, and approaching conflict as an opportunity. Between sessions, they worked in small groups, practiced their leadership pitches, and built connections with members from across the organization.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, the organization provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment through its Dream Programs, which include the Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women and Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls. A 501(c)(3) organization that relies on charitable donations to support its programs, Soroptimist comprises a global network of volunteers across North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim.
