WVU Medicine Uniontown opening retina clinic
Patients in Fayette County will gain expanded access to expert retina care starting in August with the opening of the WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital Retina Clinic, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. July 29, near the outpatient entrance of the clinic at 500 W. Berkeley St. Members of the community are invited to attend.
“Our new clinic expands access to our renowned WVU Eye Institute,” Karyn Wallace, WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital president and CEO, said. “We are proud that this new site will serve as a premier resource for ophthalmic care in Fayette County.”
Led by Dr. Nicole Pumariega, ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon, the clinic features advanced diagnostic tools and targeted treatment for both common and complex retina and vitreous conditions of the eye, including 鈥嬧�媎iabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment.
Specialists can diagnose the most complex diseases and perform intricate procedures with injections, lasers, or traditional surgical instruments to enhance vision for many eye conditions.
“Our new clinic is just steps away from the front doors of the hospital and makes visits easy for all patients, especially those who require frequent care,” Pumariega said. “My current patients are so excited for a site in their community that will allow them to conveniently access state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments.”
The clinic will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. New and current patients can schedule appointments by calling 724-430-5300.
