As part of a class project, students at R.W. Clark Elementary spent the past couple of months collecting Valentine鈥檚 Day postcards from across the country.

Along with teaching students about geography and letter writing, teacher Juliann Braddock said this project offers students another valuable lesson: compassion.

鈥淚 told the kids that kindness is free, spread it everywhere, and love makes our world go 鈥檙ound. This challenge really showed that there are people that care about us,鈥� Braddock said.

The students use a coloring map to keep track of each state that has sent a letter.

Having received over 340 valentines, Braddock said the project was a way to reinforce the idea that love spans across the globe.

In addition to Braddock鈥檚 class, students from the classrooms of Courtney Gouker, Maureen Riddell and Tricia Steiner participated.
