Music review: Elevation Collective -鈥楨vidence鈥�
The atmosphere is changing now/For the Spirit of the Lord is here,鈥� sings Tasha Cobbs Leonard on the opening track of Elevation Collective鈥檚 new offering of songs that move, inspire and renew.
鈥淗ere as in Heaven鈥� is elevated by Leonard鈥檚 angelic voice confidently reminding us that God鈥檚 presence is all around and his love and grace are overflowing in a world in need of change. Leonard displays the same exuberant passion found on her rousing 2017 album aptly titled 鈥淗eart. Passion. Pursuit.鈥�
鈥淓vidence鈥� is an album of eight motivating tracks created from a stirring collaboration between Elevation Worship and a small group of heavenly Christian artists, resulting in a vibrant rework of previous Elevation Worship arrangements.
鈥淒o It Again鈥� is the album鈥檚 first single that describes the greatness of God鈥檚 faithfulness as witnessed by Travis Greene and Kierra Sheard as they triumphantly declare, 鈥淵ou made a way, where there was no way.鈥� Sheard, who also made an appearance on Leonard鈥檚 last album, brings down the house with a wall-shaking performance.
Tye Tribbett鈥檚 electrifying energy is heard and felt on 鈥淯nstoppable God鈥� as he sings about the joy that is realized when it is discovered that nothing is impossible through a steadfast faith.
Elevation Worship鈥檚 Chris Brown and singer-songwriter Israel Houghton extend an open invitation to accept God鈥檚 unconditional love and leave behind a lifetime of regrets and mistakes on 鈥淥 Come to the Altar.鈥�
Going solo, Houghton follows with a soaring song of praise and thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude for being saved from the darkness on 鈥淛esus I Come.鈥�
鈥淗ere in the Presence鈥� features Houghton paired with Sherretta Ivey singing about the awesomeness of God鈥檚 power and encouraging those in distress to be still and know that God is in control of every situation.
The Walls Group鈥檚 infectious optimism flows freely on the tracks 鈥淩esurrecting鈥� and 鈥淩aised to Life.鈥� The former number promises victory after being lifted from the ashes and being transformed through the breath of new life while the latter relays the eternal assurance that God provides abundantly for all his children.
