A vacation turns into a survival mission in ’47 Meters Down: Uncaged’
The next big shark movie, 鈥�47 Meters Down: Uncaged,鈥� was released this week to home rental outlets.
While the first film in the series, 鈥�47 Meters Down鈥� focused on two sisters whose decision to cage dive with sharks turned into a nightmare, this second film focuses on a group of girls who face dire consequences after they decide to explore some underwater caves.
In the synopsis on Rottentomatoes.com, the next chapter takes place in the backpacking mecca of Brazil, against the backdrop of the country鈥檚 vibrant culture, party atmosphere and beautiful beaches.
A group of five girls from different backgrounds and countries are united by their lust for life and adventure in the coastal metropolis of Recife. Looking to get off the well-worn tourist trail, they hear about a hidden underwater ruin from a local guide and seize the opportunity to discover their own Atlantis beneath the turquoise waves, the synopsis said. Unbeknownst to them, the caves where the forgotten city lies are not completely uninhabited, and as they swim deeper into the submerged labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.
The film stars Sophie Nelisse (鈥淭he Book Thief鈥� and 鈥淧awn Sacrifice鈥�), Corinne Fox (鈥淪weet/Vicious鈥� and 鈥淏eat Shazam鈥�), Brianne Tju (鈥淕rey鈥檚 Anatomy鈥� and 鈥淪cream: The TV Series鈥�), Sistine Rose Stallone (鈥淓ntertainment Tonight鈥� and 鈥淎ccess Hollywood鈥�), Brec Basinger (鈥淏ella and the Bulldogs鈥� and 鈥淭he Goldbergs鈥�) and John Corbett (鈥淪ex and the City鈥� and 鈥淢y Big Fat Greek Wedding鈥�).
While critics give the film just a 41 percent on Rotten Tomatoes鈥� tomatometer, audiences seemed to appreciate it a bit more with a score of 68 percent.
The critics鈥� consensus on the website said the film 鈥渕ay not be as ruthlessly efficient as its finned villains, but fans of shark peril thrillers should find it just chummy enough.鈥�
Directed by Johannes Roberts, the film is rated PG-13 for creature related violence and terror, some bloody images and brief rude gestures.

The film is rated PG for rude humor and action.
n 鈥淭he Peanut Butter Falcon,鈥� directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz and starring Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, Zack Gottsagen and John Hawkes. The film tells the story of Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck. A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler, a small time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak鈥檚 unlikely coach and ally.
The film is rated PG-13 for thematic content, language throughout, some violence and smoking.
