鈥淭he Golden Girls Show! A Puppet Parody鈥 will take the State Theatre stage at 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

From musicals to art to even live animals, the 2019-20 season at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown will offer a mix of entertainment.

鈥淲e鈥檙e really excited about this season,鈥 said Erica Miller, executive director at the theater.

The fun will kick off with a group of puppets portraying the original 鈥榝riends鈥 鈥 the popular Golden Girls 鈥 with 鈥淭he Golden Girls Show! A Puppet Parody.鈥

鈥淚t just seemed like such a funny idea,鈥 said Miller. 鈥淭he show is incredibly entertaining, and it was beloved by so many generations of people. It鈥檚 really broad reaching.鈥

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 13. Tickets are $25, $30 and $35.

The Broadway musical 鈥淴anadu鈥 will take the stage at 8 p.m. Oct. 26.

鈥淭he musical is based on the movie, which is hilariously funny, and it actually pokes a little bit of fun at the movie,鈥 said Miller.

An interesting part of the performance is that two of the cast members will be played by Ginger Minj and Jinkx Monsoon from 鈥淩u Paul鈥檚 Drag Race.鈥

Tickets for the show are $25, $36 and $40. These will be the only two shows in 2019 for the new season. The shows will pick up again in January with another musical on Jan. 25, when 鈥淵ou鈥檙e a Good Man Charlie Brown鈥 takes the stage.

Based on the infamous comic strip 鈥淭he Peanuts,鈥 she said they were hoping to reach a broad audience when they chose this show for the new season.

鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of people who grew up with Charlie Brown and the gang,鈥 Miller said. 鈥淎lso, this is an anniversary year for the cartoon.鈥

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets are $25, $36 and $40.

A few months later, on March 21, the State Theatre will present 鈥淎rtrageous,鈥 a show that鈥檚 a mixture of art, music and creation lab.

鈥淲e presented 鈥楢rtrageous鈥 in the past, and it was very well received,鈥 Miller said. 鈥淭hey have a new tour now with new paintings and new music, and we thought it would be fun to bring them back.

鈥淗opefully everyone who came out and enjoyed it the first time will come back and bring their family and friends with them,鈥 she added.

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. and tickets are $25, $30 and $35.

A special treat just a couple weeks later, on April 3, will be Jack Hanna from The Columbus Zoo, with a number of his animal friends for the show 鈥淛ack Hanna鈥檚 Into the Wild LIVE.鈥

鈥淲e had 鈥楳utts Gone Nuts鈥 this past season, and it was incredibly popular, so we thought we鈥檇 bring back another show with animals,鈥 said Miller. 鈥淛ack Hanna is so well known. He鈥檚 been on Johnny Carson and David Letterman and The Today Show and has represented The Columbus Zoo for so many years.

鈥淗e鈥檒l be bringing various kinds of animals,鈥 she added. 鈥淲e just felt there would be a strong appeal for people to come to this.鈥

The show is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets are $25, $36 or $40.

Finally, the State Theatre is bringing an entertaining concert performance to the stage with 鈥淣eil Berg鈥檚 50 Years of Rock N鈥 Roll鈥 on April 17.

Miller said there will be five singers as part of the group who have either Broadway or rock-and-roll credentials.

鈥淭hey鈥檒l go through all of the different genres of music, and I think it鈥檚 going to be a really fun night,鈥 she said.

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tickets are $25, $30 and $35.

Although it鈥檚 not part of the theater鈥檚 entertainment schedule, the next event to take the stage at the venue will be a tribute concert to Journey, Foreigner and Styx by Trilogy Classics Live 鈥 a group of five journeymen musicians 鈥 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28. Tickets are $25.

Tickets for every show at the theater can be purchased online at http://www.statetheatre.info or by calling the box office at 724-439-1360.

鈥淲e encourage everyone to buy a ticket and come out to the State to enjoy a show this upcoming season,鈥 said Miller.
