Chris Fennimore with his son Joseph, who first came on 鈥淨ED Cooks鈥 when he was 28 months old.

The saying 鈥渨hen in Rome鈥 conjures up images of indulging in pasta, freshly shaved cheese, and biscotti.

WQED鈥檚 Chris Fennimore has taken that phrase to heart in his culinary pursuits. No stranger to the Eternal City, Fennimore calls Rome home several months a year while visiting his daughter and two grandsons. His daily pleasure for nearly a decade is perusing the Mercato for fresh produce, cheeses, seafood and meats for dinner. As one might imagine, Fennimore has amassed a collection of recipes. He and co-host Nancy Polinsky will share a few with viewers during the premiere of 鈥淲hen in Rome鈥 on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. on WQED-TV.

During this two-hour pledge event, Fennimore and Polinsky along with some local culinary friends of 鈥淨ED Cooks,鈥 will cook several authentic recipes from Rome, Italy, such as caprese salad, green olive salad, cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper), potato gnocchi, artichokes ala Romano, beef strachetti, roman meatballs and biscotti di regina.

During the show, a new cookbook of 100 recipes from Fennimore鈥檚 Italian recipe collection will be offered to viewers so that they too, can do as the Romans do. 鈥淲hen in Rome鈥 will have encore broadcasts on WQED-TV on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. and noon.
