‘American Pie’ singer Don McLean to perform at Carnegie Music Hall
Singer and songwriter Don McLean will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his hit song 鈥淎merican Pie鈥 during a performance at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall on Friday, Nov. 10.
McLean is a Grammy award honoree, a Songwriter Hall of Fame member, a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and his smash hit 鈥淎merican Pie鈥 resides in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry and was named one of the top five songs of the 20th century by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA). In 2015, McLean鈥檚 handwritten manuscript of the lyrics to 鈥淎merican Pie鈥 was auctioned by Christies, selling for just over $1.2 million.
His catalog of songs, which also includes 鈥淰incent (Starry, Starry Night)鈥 and 鈥淐astles in the Air鈥 has been recorded by Madonna, Garth Brooks, Josh Groban, Drake, 鈥淲eird Al鈥 Yankovic, and countless others.
