WPA brings ‘Rocky Horror’ to WCCC theatre
Are you ready for a time warp while doing the 鈥淭ime Warp?鈥
Westmoreland Performing Arts will stage 鈥淭he Rocky Horror Show鈥 Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28 at the Science Hall Theatre at Westmoreland County Community College. Shows will be held at 8 p.m. and midnight on both dates.
The yearly performance has a theme, with this year鈥檚 being 鈥淎ll Things 1980鈥檚.鈥 Spotted onstage will be the likes of Marty McFly, The Terminator, Steve Urkel, Cyndi Lauper, Rocky Balboa, Baby from 鈥淒irty Dancing,鈥 Michael Myers, Madonna and many more 80鈥檚 icons. Audience members are urged to dress up as their favorite Rocky Horror or 80鈥檚 character.
The WPA cast includes Kevin O鈥橪eary as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, J. Alex Noble as Riff Raff, Anthony Marino as Brad, Katherine Harkins as Janet, Alex Podolinski as Rocky, Renata Marino as Columbia, Ben Federico as Magenta, Tony Marino as Eddie/Dr. Scott and John Noble as the narrator.
The stage production, which debuted in 1973, was the inspiration for the 1975 movie 鈥淭he Rocky Horror Picture Show.鈥 Both are tributes to science fiction and horror movies from the 1930s through the early 1960s.
There will be a costume contest at the beginning of each show, and the winner will receive two tickets to an upcoming WPA show.
