Main Street Theatre Company stages ‘Rent’
The classic 1990s musical “Rent” is being staged by Uniontown’s Main Street Theatre Company this weekend.
Created by playwright Jonathan Larson, who died in 1996 shortly after its debut, “Rent” is based on the Giacomo Puccini opera “La Boheme” and chronicles the lives of young, struggling artists who are struggling to break through and find their voice. “Rent” is set in New York’s East Village, and it won a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Musical.
It will be at the State Theatre Center for the Arts Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. For information, go online to statetheatre.info.
