Crowd favorite Chris Higbee back again at Greene County Fair
A familiar face and sound will take the stage at the Greene County Fair this year, and veteran fairgoers won鈥檛 have any trouble identifying that face and unique country sound as belonging to Chris Higbee.
Higbee, who founded the PovertyNeck Hillbillies in 2000 (the group disbanded seven years later), will perform at the fairgrounds at 8:15 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 11. Higbee is not only a singer and songwriter but also an expert fiddle-player. His engaging presence and honed-fiddle-playing skills are sure to impress every member of the audience.
Higbee grew up a farm boy with a musical curiosity and a diligent mother and father. That curiosity quickly became a passion that drove his dreams. 鈥淔iddles Rock鈥� tells that story and was inspired by his late father
Higbee released a new album last year, titled, 鈥淩eady or Not.鈥� The album has 14 new tracks, including songs such as 鈥淎ngry American,鈥� which reflects Higbee鈥檚 strong sense of patriotism 鈥� something that many fans respect about Higbee. Higbee鈥檚 wife, Melissa Higbee, is now a Senior Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and has inspired Higbee鈥檚 music in the past, as has his love of his country.
鈥淲rite to Me鈥� and 鈥淵ou鈥檙e Still Gone鈥� are about Melissa, who spent several deployments away from home, including Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom) and as the story is told in 鈥淵ou鈥檙e Still Gone,鈥� one of those deployments happened immediately after their marriage.
Higbee keeps busy playing more than 150 shows per year. Fully equipped with production and a tour bus, he delivers a killer show and makes new fans wherever he plays. With his presence and charisma on stage, he makes a personal impact on his fans and they return it faithfully. He wows audiences by climbing light trusses, fiddling out in the audience, and his stage show and vocals put out an energy that people love no matter where he is.

Higbee said, 鈥淲e feel like we have a little bit to offer all of America. We are going to take over each town by storm. I am looking forward to hanging with and seeing all of our new Higbillies.鈥�
