Copperheads defeat Bill’s Bit Service, 7-3 (copy)

Carmichaels had a pair of three-run innings Sunday evening to secure a 7-3 Fayette County Baseball League home victory over Bill’s Bit Service.

Carmichaels remains atop the FCBL standings with an 11-1 record. Bill’s Bit Service goes to 7-9.

The Copperheads led 1-0 after one inning, then increased their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Joby Lapkowicz’s run-producing double keyed the inning.

Bill’s Bit Service posted a run in the top of the fourth inning, but Carmichaels responded with its second three-run inning in the bottom of the fifth inning. Chuck Gasti had a two-run double in the rally.

Bill’s Bit Service shaved into its deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the visitors were held scoreless in the top of the seventh inning.

Jacob Kinsell started and pitched 4.1 innings to earn the win. He allowed one earned run with four strikeouts and three walks.

Nick Groover took the loss, lasting two innings. He gave up four runs (two earned) with two strikeouts and six walks.
