County fair to premiere new attractions
This year鈥檚 Greene County Fair, with the theme 鈥淔airs, Feature, Agriculture鈥 will premiere free mechanical bull riding and a stunt show, said fair board secretary-treasurer Debbie Stephenson.
The bull riding is sponsored by High Strung Racing and will be available every night at 5 p.m. A stunt show hasn鈥檛 been at the fair for two decades. This year鈥檚 event is called Black Cat Hell Drivers Stunt Show and will take place on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
鈥(The fair board is) trying to give a little back to the community that entices them,鈥 Stephenson said. 鈥(Stunt riding) was always a favorite when it was here.鈥
In addition to these two new events, Stephenson said this year鈥檚 fair will feature a new home and garden exhibit, a wheelbarrow decorated with the fair theme and live plants, and a second farm stock tractor pull on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Also, a new company called Hardcore Demolition Derby will conduct Friday鈥檚 demolition derby show at 7 p.m. According to Stephenson, the man behind the former company is retiring.
As with previous years, admission is $8 and the truck and tractor pulls on Tuesday and Saturday are expected to draw huge crowds. Participants can register for the pulls at 5 p.m. on Monday.
鈥淓ach day has something that somebody can come and see and take home a piece of agriculture,鈥 Stephenson said.
This year鈥檚 theme, according to Stephenson, pays homage to the state鈥檚 largest industry.
鈥淲e鈥檙e trying to make sure that everyone understands agriculture is our number one industry in Pennsylvania,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e want to promote agriculture because it is what we are made of.鈥
