Rohanna advances to IOA Golf Classic final round
Rachel Rohanna carded three birdies and four bogeys in Saturday’s second round, but the Waynesburg Central grad advanced to her final round of the IOA Golf Classic.
Rohanna is tied for 28th entering Sunday’s final round with a two-round total of 1-under 141 after shooting 1-over 72 in the second round.
Marta Sanz Barrio leads heading into the final round at 11-under 131.
Rohanna opened the second round with back-to-back birdies to get to 4-under for the tournament, but lost the strokes on back-to-back bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes to go out in even-par 35.
She made the turn with a bogey-birdie-bogey start and then parred out to play the back nine in 1-over 37.
“This course is tough,” Rohanna said with emphasis, adding, “So, I’m happy with how I played!”
Rohanna believes she can make a run up the leaderboard in the final round.
“Yes, for sure,” said Rohanna. “I’m just trying to keep it down the fairway and on the greens. The course is very narrow. I’m not carrying my driver this week, just trying to keep it straight.
“There are some scary numbers on those scorecards at the bottom of the leaderboard. I’m just trying to hit good shots tomorrow and post a good score for some confidence going into next week.”
The Symetra Tour closes with the Tour Championship, running from Thursday through Sunday.
