PERRYOPOLIS 鈥 Injuries had deprived Frazier of starting quarterback Brayden Boggs and star senior Kenny Fine during a two-game losing streak.

Fine returned in grand fashion last Friday night and Dom Dorcon stepped in behind center and ran an offense that scored six touchdowns as the Commodores got back on track with a 40-14 victory over visiting Waynesburg Central in a Century Conference clash.

Fine ran for 172 yards, including touchdowns of 35, 35 and 70 yards, on just 11 carries after missing last week鈥檚 game at McGuffey. Dorcon completed 2 of 4 passes for 46 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown to Luke Santo, and also ran for 47 yards and a score in replacing Boggs, who is out for the season with an ACL injury.

鈥淲e got banged up pretty good and had to deal with some injuries,鈥 Frazier coach Greg Boggs said. 鈥淚t was good seeing some of the kids come back.

鈥淏rayden was off to a really good start but Dom stepped in and did a nice job of leading the team. We were able to get Kenny back and he looked like his old self tonight.鈥

It didn鈥檛 take long for Fine to have an impact. He took a sweep to the right 35 yards for a touchdown on the Commodores鈥 first play from scrimmage and Coton Arison鈥檚 two-point conversion run made it 8-0.

The Raiders (0-4, 0-4) answered with a strong drive capped by quarterback Darnell Johnson鈥檚 13-yard touchdown run midway through the opening quarter and Chase Henkins鈥 extra-point kick made it 8-7.

鈥淭heir quarterback is a gifted player and did a nice job running the ball today,鈥 Boggs said. 鈥淥ur defense had to make sure that we contained him as much as possible but he broke some decent runs.鈥

The Commodores (2-1, 2-2) fired right back with Fine again breaking free for a 35-yard touchdown run to give the host鈥檚 a 14-7 lead.

Less than a minute later Frazier was on the board against thanks to a 46-yard TD jaunt by Christian Mingrino to make it 20-7 after one quarter.

鈥淭hat was the turning point,鈥 Waynesburg coach Chad Coss said. 鈥淭hey got a couple quick scores and that turned the tide against us.鈥

Boggs credited his linemen for much of his team鈥檚 success against the Raiders.

鈥淥ur offensive line played well and opened the running lanes and gave Dom some time back there, too,鈥 Boggs said.

Dorcon鈥檚 scoring pass to Santo and Tristen Scott鈥檚 extra point put the score at 27-7 with 8:57 left in the second quarter.

Fine exploded for his long 70-yard TD just under three minutes later to give Frazier a commanding 34-7 halftime lead.

鈥淜enny had a big night,鈥 Boggs said.

鈥淗e鈥檚 a good back,鈥 Coss said. 鈥淗e was out last week. We were kind hoping he鈥檇 be still out this week,鈥 Coss added with a chuckle. 鈥淏ut knew going in he was a good tailback. We practiced for him all week but just didn鈥檛 get the job done.鈥

Dorcon scored on a 1-yard run late in the third quarter and Waynesburg running back Breydon Woods capped the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Woods, a freshman, was a bright spot for the Raiders with 152 rushing yards on 25 carries.

鈥淲e knew he was going to be a ballplayer,鈥 Coss said of Woods. 鈥淲e went to Wash High and he took some licks but he really impressed the coaching staff with the way he responded. He just kept getting up and going back in the huddle. He鈥檚 just going to get better.鈥

Johnson added 88 yards on the ground on 23 carries but was limited to just one completion in 10 pass attempts.

Coss saw some positives in the defeat but is hoping for a more cohesive effort the rest of the season.

鈥淚 told them we did some good things,鈥 Coss said. 鈥淲e just have a couple plays where we have one or two guys not doing their responsibility. We鈥檝e got to clean that up and get all 11 guys doing the job both offensively and defensively.鈥

Boggs liked the way his squad responded after Waynesburg鈥檚 first touchdown.

鈥淎fter giving up that first drive, I thought our defense played pretty well the rest of the game,鈥 Boggs said.

Though he was satisfied with the win, Boggs was already turning the page not long after the game.

鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to keep going,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e in a tough conference and we鈥檙e 2-1. It鈥檚 up to us. If we get through Char-Houston, Beth-Center and Wash High then we get into the playoffs but we鈥檝e got to take it one game at a time.

鈥淣ow we鈥檒l come back on Monday and try to keep getting better.鈥
