Marian C. Hopkins
Marian C. Hopkins, 75, of Dilliner, and formerly of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born in Sand Fork, W.Va., on August 9, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Elzie and Pearl Sprouse Carpenter.
A 1965 graduate of Sand Fork High School, she also graduated from Glenville State College with an education degree in Home Economics. She taught for many years in the Upshur County School system, and retired as the Child Nutrition Director for the county schools.
Marian was currently attending the Bobtown United Methodist Church, was the President of the Bobtown Senior Citizens, and Secretary for the Sand Fork Alumni Association.
She was quite a skilled seamstress and quilter, and she was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and loved all things West Virginia.
Surviving are her two beloved daughters and their husbands, Melissa and George Barber, of Morgantown, W.Va., and Becky and Buddy Pecjak of Taylortown; four grandchildren, George, IV and Cassandra Barber and Luke and Allison Pecjak; her loving friend and companion for the past seven years, Joe Chapman; one brother, Charles Carpenter, and a niece, Chasity Carpenter.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service, Thursday, with Pastor Ed Hanley officiating. Interment follows in Fairview Cemetery, Dilliner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Bobtown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 177, Bobtown, PA 15315.
