Morris places first

Waynesburg senior Colby Morris didn’t drop a match Saturday on his way to the title at 174 pounds at the Ned McGinley Invitational held at King’s College.

Morris was also named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for his performance.

The Waynesburg Central graduate went 5-0 with two pins, a technical fall and decision on his way to the title bout against York’s Jared Townshend. Morris secured a 5-1 decision over Townshend.

JT Hollyfield, Ringgold graduate Brayden Barbao, Seth Evans and Ayden Bishoff all won one bout for the Yellow Jackets.

PAC honors Cawley

Waynesburg sophomore running back Zayne Cawley was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week for his record-breaking performance Saturday against Bethany (W.Va.).

Cawley rushed for school-record 336 yards on 41 carries, including touchdown runs of 43, 2, 31 and 9 yards. The rushing performance ranks third in PAC history.
