Top-seeded Serra Catholic eliminates West Greene, 3-0
Top-seeded Serra Catholic defeated ninth-seeded West Greene in a WPIAL Class 1A quarterfinal girls volleyball match at Gateway on Thursday night.
Serra Catholic (18-0) won by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-8.
The Lady Pioneers end their season with a 14-4 record.
West Greene won its first-round match on Oct. 24, defeating Burgettstown in straight sets, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-8, to reach the quarterfinals.

Greensburg C.C. 3, Mapletown 0 — The fourth-seeded Lady Centurions swept past the Lady Maples in the opening round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs.
Greensburg C.C. won by the scores, 25-20, 25-11, 27-25.
Mapletown (12-7) had strong performances from Isabella Garnek (5 kills), Rowan Eisiminger (4 kills), Bailey Rafferty (4 kills, 10 digs, 13 assists), Brianna Ashton (19 digs, 2 aces), and Marley Seward (4 aces).
