Chris Minerd talks to his players during a timeout ian a game this past season. Minerd, who led the Lady Raiders to a 20-3 record and a third straight section championship, is the Greene County Messenger All-County Girls Basketball Team Coach of the Year.

Kaley Rohanna has done nothing but win in her time at Waynesburg Central.

The 5-foot-5 senior guard, for the third year in a row, helped the Lady Raiders earn a section championship this past girls basketball season.

Rohanna averaged 16.6 points, leading the county by a wide margin, and 4 assists per game her senior year which ended with her standing as the second-leading scorer in school history at 1,510 points.

Rohanna was an easy pick for the Greene County Messenger All-County Girls Basketball Team Player of the Year.

Rohanna was a four-year starter and Waynesburg compiled a 71-21 record in that span with her at point guard and shooting guard. She was also one of the WPIAL鈥檚 top free-throw shooters.

Lady Raiders coach Chris Minerd summed up Rohanna鈥檚 career in his own words.

鈥淜aley will always be remembered as one of the best basketball players to come out of Waynesburg Central High School,鈥 Minerd said. 鈥淎 lot of players made great contributions to this team. But many looked to Kaley to lead them. In most cases when Kaley had success, the team had success.鈥

Minerd has had success as well following a stellar coaching career with the California girls team.. He guided the Lady Raiders to a 20-3 record this season following a 21-6 mark the year before, winning two Section 4-AAA titles along the way. His combined 41-9 record at Waynesburg gives Minerd a sparkling 82% winning percentage.

Minerd is the GCM Coach of the Year.

West Greene coach Austin Crouse is the Coach of the Year Runner-up. Following in the big footsteps left by former Lady Pioneers coach Jordan Watson, Crouse has not only guided West Greene into the playoffs in both of his seasons at the helm but also extended the program鈥檚 amazing streak of having won at least one postseason game to eight consecutive years.

Mapletown coach Kaitlyn Novak also guided her squad into the WPIAL playoffs.

Joining Rohanna on the GCM First Team are Waynesburg senior guard/forward Josie Horne, West Greene sophomore guard Kendra Tharp and senior guard/forward Kasie Meek, and Mapletown sophomore guard Makenna Lotspeich.

Filling the Second Team are Waynesburg鈥檚 Addison Blair, Jefferson-Morgan鈥檚 Kayla Larkin, Carmichaels鈥 Megan Voithofer, West Greene鈥檚 Marissa Tharp and Mapletown鈥檚 Emma Zalar.
