The passing combo of quarterback Samuel Barber and wide receiver Tyler Richmond keyed Waynesburg’s 37-10 victory over Thiel on Saturday at John F. Wiley Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-5 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference and overall play, and have an opportunity to reach .500 with a victory at Geneva next week in the season finale. The Golden Tornadoes also have a 4-5 record.

Barber and Carmichaels graduate Richmond hooked up on a 28-yard scoring strike and Drew Pinkerton made his first of four PATs for a 7-0 lead with 9:17 left in the second quarter.

Dreyvin Livingston’s 21-yard field goal with 1:24 remaining in the second quarter cut the deficit to 7-3, but Richmond pulled in his second touchdown reception, from 19 yards out, with 30 seconds left and a 14-3 advantage at halftime.

Richmond caught four passes for 132 yards and Barber was 14 of 17 for 220 yards. Zayne Cawley added 81 rushing yards and a touchdown for Waynesburg.

Cawley found the end zone on a nine-yard run at 7:44 of the third for a 20-3 lead before Pinkerton nailed a 40-yard field goal for a 20-point advantage with 12:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Hunter Cameron (8 yards) and Brian Scott-Hill (2 yards) scored rushing touchdowns to extend the home team’s lead to 37-3.

Jayveerh White scored for the Tomcats on a five-yard run with 1:26 left.
