Local roundup: Waynesburg Central golfers defeat Bentworth
Waynesburg Central had three players shoot under 40 to help lead the Raiders over Bentworth, 195-242, in a Section 3-2A boys golf match at Chippewa Golf Course on Monday.
Waynesburg’s Lucas Slifko earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37, while Austin Surber and Jarett Tretnik each carded a 38. Rykan Gustafson shot a 40 and Cole Headlee finished his nine holes at 42.
The Bearcats’ Trent Wolpink fired a round of 44. Craig McDonald shot a 45 and Wyatt Snyder a 49. Sam Wade (50) and David Miller (54) closed the scoring for the home team.
Both squads were playing their first match of the season.
Chartiers-Houston 213, Carmichaels 226 – JoJo Jaskulski took medalist honors with a 2-under-par 35 as the Buccaneers beat the Mikes in a non-section match to open the season at Carmichaels Golf Club.
Chartiers-Houston’s Bobby Daddea and the Mikes’ Eli Hastings both shot 40 to tie for the second-best round of the day.
Rounding out the scoring for Carmichaels were Connor Lapana (42), Cooper Richards (47), Anthony Post (48) and Jayden Kerley (49).
Following Jaskulski and Daddea for the Buccaneers were Daniel Greely (44), Brady Robaugh (44) and Ben Heiser (50).
