Bud Murphy’s turned a strong defense and some last-inning lightning into a 3-2 win over Blue Mountain in Fayette County Baseball League action Friday at Carmichaels.

After Blue Mountain (12-5) grabbed a 2-0 lead with runs in the second and third innings, Bud’s (12-5) got in the game with a run in the sixth before pulling out the victory with a pair in the seventh.

Kaiten Smiley brought home the tying run with a ground out, before Casey Teagarden scampered home from third on a fielder’s choice.

Nick Damico pitched two innings to pick up the win, as he allowed two hits and no walks, while striking out three.

It was his first decision of the season. He relieved Jeremy Hoover, who went in to replace starter Bill Rouse after he gave up two runs.

Justin Schrader was the losing pitcher after a masterful 7-inning performance, where he scattered four hits, allowed one base on balls, three runs (2 earned), while recording 10 strikeouts.

Casey Teagarden doubled for Bud’s big hit, while Joby Lapkowicz tagged a two-bagger for Blue Mountain.

Bud’s defense played a big part in the victory, as it turned three double plays.

Blue Mountain visit Bud’s for a doubleheader at 2?p.m. Today.

Mill Run 7, Pasta Lorenzo 3 — Greg Welsh pitched seven strong innings, as Mill Run defeated Pasta Lorenzo Friday.

Welsh allowed four hits, three to Casey Kupets, who got to him for a pair of doubles and a single in three trips to the plate.

John Malone doubled with one on in the fifth for Mill Run’s (11-9) big hit.

Eric Palmer took the loss for Pasta Lorenzo (6-12). He struck out three and walked five in six innings of work.

Belmont Inn 6-1, Dunbar 0-0 — Belmont Inn Swept a doubleheader from Dunbar on Saturday.

Bob Madison went the distance to post the win in the first game, as Alex Fogle took the loss.

Eric Fudala and Nick Erminio doubled for the winners, as Erminio drove in a pair of runs.

Matt Jaynes doubled for Dunbar’s (1-16) big hit.

Blake Robinson drove Mike Pegg home for Belmont’s (10-10) winning run in the second game. Pegg had doubled.

Jeremy Molinaro pitched the final four innings of the second game for the win in relief of Madison, while Brandon Noonan took the loss.
