Keera Frye Applause
Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce recently honored Keera Ann Frye of Ruffsdale as a September student of the month.
A senior at Southmoreland High School, Frye has been involved in varsity cheerleading, National Honor Society, student council, Tam O鈥橲hanter school newspaper, Reading Buddies, mock trail, National Student Leadership Conference, Pittsburgh Youth Media, Random Acts of Kindness, Youth Education Association, French club, French Honor Society, Kids and Company Dance, Southmoreland Midget cheer coach, reading team, volleyball team, track team, varsity club, yearbook staff and show choir.
Frye鈥檚 honors and achievements include student council vice president, Tam O鈥橲hanter editor, mock trial best witness, second place in Scottdale Writers Group Contest, French club president, National Honor Society vice president, junior class historian, UCA All-American Cheerleader, All Academic Team, varsity letterman and GEMS.
Her hobbies include dancing, writing, cheerleading and coaching. She has been employed as a writer for Fayette Resources Newsletters, Carson鈥檚 Catering and as a babysitter.
Frye鈥檚 volunteer work includes Reading Buddies, Swishes for Wishes and Bump It Up for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, blood drive, Chris Kiefer Dash, American Cancer Society鈥檚 Relay for Life, Buddy Day, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas caroling, kindergarten registration, Scottdale Light Up Night, midget cheer coaching, Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament, Area 3 Futures Wrestling Tournament, Southmoreland Junior Olympic Wrestling Tournament and Cupcakes for Connellsville.
Frye鈥檚 future plans are to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to major in media and journalism with a specialization in public relations.
