A 13-year-old boy was shot early Friday morning while he was driving a vehicle on Jefferson Street, according to Uniontown police.

Police said a bullet went through the boy’s wrist. He was transported to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The investigation continues into who fired the shot at the boy.

The boy’s passenger, William Joseph Colbert of Connellsville, was charged after he was found with a .22-caliber Ruger firearm in the vehicle. He turned 18 June 24.

He admitted to firing a shot on Breakneck Road in Connellsville, according to court documents.

Police also found beer in the car.

Colbert is on juvenile probation and not permitted to possess a firearm, court paperwork said.

He is charged with prohibited possession of a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license. Colbert is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
