A Ruffsdale man was shot in the leg after an argument about a damaged backhoe, state police said.

Kyle Justin Lee, 20, of 117 Gressly Road is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

The alleged victim, David S. Sethman, 40, was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.

Sethman called 911 at about 9 p.m. Friday to report Lee shot him. He said they were arguing by text message and he banged on Lee’s door, which is on the same property as his home. He told police Lee grabbed a shotgun and fired it through his own front door, then fired bird-shot pellets at Sethman. He was hit in the left shin, police said.

Lee was arraigned on a $10,000 bond Saturday morning by Magisterial District Judge Helen M. Kister.

He remains in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of bond. His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 8.
