Man charged with shooting on Uniontown street in April

An Arnold man was charged with shooting a 29-year-old man in the leg on South Street in Uniontown just after midnight April 19.

Uniontown City Police obtained surveillance footage from neighboring businesses that allowed them to identify Isaac Zachery Farrell, 24, of Kenneth Avenue as the man who allegedly shot Steven “Doodle” Lewis.

Farrell is also charged with attempted homicide in a home invasion in Uniontown Thursday. The details of that case have not yet been released.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case, surveillance captured a clear image of Farrell’s face just before the April shooting. Farrell and Lewis left DiMarco’s Bistro & Cantina together, and Lewis reportedly punched Farrell in the face. Farrell then allegedly pulled a gun and shot at Lewis twice. Lewis ran across the street and fell bleeding on the roadway, where he was found by Fayette EMS and police. Lewis was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Farrell is no stranger to the law. In 2012, he pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault in a juvenile case, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. In June, he was charged with robbing Circle K on Hopwood-Fairchance Road and holding hostages inside in a 2014 case. Those charges were filed while he was serving a prison sentence for shooting at a car with children inside. He is awaiting trial in the robbery case. He posted $75,000 bail July 19.

Farrell is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a firearm prohibited and firearm not to be carried without a license in the April case. Bail was set at $100,000.

In Thursday’s case, he was charged with attempted homicide, burglary, aggravated assault, strangulation, possession of a firearm prohibited, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime with intent and simple assault. Bail was set at $200,000 in that case.

Farrell is in Fayette County Prison, unable to post bail.
