By The 1 min read

State police reported that fewer crashes occurred across the state during this year’s Labor Day weekend, compared to 2018.

Between Friday and Monday, police investigated 684 crashes, a 5% decrease from the 722 investigated last year.

Seven people were killed in separate crashes across the state, though none of the fatal crashes occurred locally.

Locally, Troop B covers Fayette, Greene, Washington, Allegheny counties and part of Westmoreland County.

Troopers in the area reported 50 crashes, with 18 injured. Five of those crashes involved alcohol.

Across the state, Troop B had the highest number of DUI stops with 68. State police said local troopers issued 485 speeding citations.

The numbers only include those incidents investigated by state police.
