Two Michigan men arrested on drug charges after raid at Uniontown residence
Two Michigan men were arrested on drug charges following a raid on a Uniontown residence Wednesday morning as Fayette County authorities try to root out an apparent drug pipeline from Detroit.
Raymund Miles Williams, 31, and Christopher Way Kinchen II, 37, are facing numerous felony charges after state police said they found fentanyl-laced heroin, crack cocaine, prescription pills and a stolen handgun during the bust at 37 Pershing Court in the city.
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to bust or attempt to bust what鈥檚 going on in this county,鈥� Fayette County District Attorney Richard Bower said during a news conference Friday announcing the charges. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of significant (drugs) coming from Detroit. We鈥檙e not going to put up with it.鈥�
Neither man was a resident of the Pershing Court address, although Bower did not say who the apartment tenant was or if that person could also face charges. According to court documents, both men were convicted of felonies in the past in the Detroit area.
The FBI assisted state police at the scene after investigators secured a sealed search warrant in Fayette County Court of Common Pleas last week.
Bower estimated the street value of the drugs seized in the raid to be worth about $10,000. Investigators also found Williams in possession of more than $3,000 in cash. He characterized both men as 鈥渕id-level鈥� drug dealers.
He added that the investigation is ongoing, but declined to say whether more people could eventually be arrested in connection with the drug pipeline.
鈥淭his is not just a Fayette County problem,鈥� Bower said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a nationwide problem.鈥�
Williams and Kinchen were arraigned Wednesday morning by District Judge Jason Cox and are being held without bond at the Fayette County jail. They face felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, receiving stolen property, obliterating the markings on a firearm, possession of a firearm, flight to avoid apprehension and three misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance.
Their preliminary hearings are tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. March 15 before Cox. Neither man had an attorney listed as of Friday, according to online court documents.
