Uniontown man charged for DUI with child in back seat
Monongahela police charged a man Friday for driving under the influence with his 4-year-old child in the vehicle.
Christopher Aaron Fisher, 35, of Uniontown, faces a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children, and misdemeanors of reckless endangerment and DUI.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called shortly after 10 p.m. April 6 to the 100 block of Third Avenue in New Eagle. Police were initially informed by dispatchers that the 4-year-old had contacted 911, but later learned the call had been placed by her mother.
Charging documents state that the child was improperly placed in a car seat, and lying sideways in the rear of the car.
Fisher allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. He allegedly told investigators that he took 7-Hydroxymitragynine, an opioid also referred to as 7-OH that is derived from the kratom plant, court documents state.
According to the complaint, 7-OH is sometimes called the “gas station drug” or “gas station heroin,” due to its availability in products sold at convenience stores.
Fisher was taken to Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital for a blood draw. He has not been arraigned on the charges.
