New charges filed against Dilliner man apprehended after two years
New charges were filed Monday against a Dilliner man captured by police Thursday after more than two years on the run.
David Garber, 42, of Dilliner, was charged with possession of contraband, criminal trespass, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, intentional possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A multi-department search for Garber ended Thursday after a Nemacolin man flagged down police and told them the doors to his residence on New Side Road were open, and a red motorcycle not belonging to him was found inside, according to the complaint.
Police followed a new path through thick brush across the road, where they found Garber trying to hide, according to court documents.
Garber then attempted to resist arrest, requiring several officers to subdue him, the complaint said.
Police had been seeking Garber for outstanding warrants in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, according to court documents. Charges in active Pennsylvania cases included aggravated assault and fleeing and eluding.
Garber was lodged at the Greene County jail. While he was being processed, a body scanner identified what Garber told police was a bag of methamphetamine, the complaint said.
Garber was transported to UPMC Greene for evaluation and removal of the object, and was taken back to the jail once medically cleared.
No preliminary hearing date had been set as of Monday afternoon.
