Fayette man charged with aggravated assault
A Fayette County man is accused of firing at a vehicle during an unauthorized traffic stop in Bullskin Township Thursday afternoon.
Daniel Swope, 25, of Acme, is accused of firing three rounds at the back of a car after several people had blocked its path east on Kreinbrook Hill Road, the complaint said.
Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Uniontown barracks responded around 3:46 p.m. Thursday.
The driver, Corey Keslar, told police another man had also thrown rocks at the vehicle.
Keslar said he had been inside the car when the shots were fired, and subsequently fled the scene because he feared for his life, court paperwork stated.
He described the gun as a black Heritage-style .22-caliber revolver with a brown grip, matching one police found in the bed of a pickup truck near the scene of the shooting, according to the complaint.
Police determined no bullets struck the vehicle, though it had scratches from the rocks, the complaint said.
In an interview with police, Swope said the rocks had been thrown at Keslar’s car because he was driving too fast. Swope said he had fired the gun at the ground to let Keslar know he was armed, court documents stated.
Swope is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, propulsion of missiles onto roadways, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
Swope was unable to pay the $50,000 bond and is lodged in the Fayette County Jail.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 24.
