Connellsville man charged with aggravated assault
A Connellsville man is accused of pointing a loaded handgun at a woman after starting an argument with her.
Christopher Harshman, 27, was arrested after police responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue shortly after noon Friday.
The complaint said Harshman had begun arguing with Hannah Koontz as she was sitting in her vehicle. As two others came to intervene, Harshman then pointed a gun at Michaelene Koontz, court documents said.
James Beal, the father of Hannah Koontz’s boyfriend, pulled out his gun in self-defense, while Kevin Koontz punched Harshman in the face and disarmed him, according to the complaint.
Police said video footage showed Harshman leaving his home with a firearm in his hand, loading a full magazine and racking the slide as he got to Hannah Koontz’s vehicle.
Harshman is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Harshman was unable to post $85,000 bond and was lodged in the Fayette County jail.
His preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. April 2.
