Man found in Yough River identified

By Garrett Neese 1 min read

Authorities have released the name of the man whose body was found in the Youghiogheny River near Dawson this month.

William Guidi, 42, of Somerset, was identified through rapid DNA testing and fingerprint analysis by the coroner’s office and state police, Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said in a statement.

Two fishermen found Guidi’s body on the night of March 15.

Preliminary autopsy findings suggest Guidi died from accidental drowning, Baker said. A final cause of death is pending toxicology reports.

Guidi’s family has been notified, Baker said. He thanked “everyone who has helped in the process of sharing this information to bring closure to his family.”
