A Fayette County man was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to third-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Uniontown.

Terrell Jones, 36, of Uniontown, pleaded guilty to the third-degree murder of Samantha Hardin outside of McPatton’s Pub on North Gallatin Avenue in June 2022.

Police said Jones had gotten into a fight with someone inside the bar before returning and firing from his vehicle. One of the six bullets fired hit Hardin, 34, in the head, killing her.

Jones entered his guilty plea before jury deliberations began in his trial, where he had faced charges including criminal homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

A mistrial was declared during jury selection before a previous trial in April when a juror said she had known Jones from the Washington County jail, where he was being held.

Friday’s sentence will run concurrent to a seven- to- 14-year sentence Jones received last year in an unrelated firearms case, Fayette County District Attorney Aubele said in a news release.

“We thank the many Officers, Troopers, and experts that helped put together a successful prosecution, and mourn with the family of Samantha who have waited nearly 4 years for justice,” Aubele said in the release. “May her memory be eternal.”
