Westmoreland man charged with aggravated assault
A Westmoreland County man is accused of assaulting his ex-boyfriend after a verbal argument in Bullskin Township Saturday morning.
Robert Shawley, 38, of Donegal, is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault.
Joseph Bowersox told police Shawley got into an argument with him around 2 a.m., when Bowersox tried to go to sleep because he had work in the morning.
Shawley struck Bowersox several times, then hit him repeatedly in the head and body with a vase-like object, the complaint said.
A CT scan showed Bowersox suffered nasal bone fractures and a lower lumbar fracture, according to court paperwork.
Police located Shawley Saturday in his own home in Donegal, where he was taken into custody without incident, the complaint said.
Shawley was arraigned Saturday before Judge Nathan Henning. He was lodged in the Fayette County jail Saturday after being unable to post $25,000 bail.
Shawley’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2.
