Michael John Maleta, 75, of Grindstone, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, in J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. He was born February 17, 1951 in Fairbank, to Anna and Michael J Maleta, Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Beverly J. Dirda Maleta; his father-in-law, Joseph Dirda and wife Brenda; brothers-in-law, Joseph M. Dirda, Gary Schaible.
Surviving are his mother, Anna Maleta; sons, Michael of Brownsville, and Daniel and wife Michelle and their four children of Grindstone; sisters, Maryanne Mayers of Grindstone, Joan Kopacko and husband Andrew of Republic; brothers-in-law, David Dirda, Dwight Schaible and wife Daffinn of New Hampshire; sister- in-law, Nancy Jenkins and husband David of Pittsburgh; his fiancee, Denise Patterson of Grindstone; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Michael’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the KISH-FABRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 19 Legion Street, Republic, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
