Delbert ‘Bugeye’ Shahan Jr., 79, of Vanderbilt, Franklin Twp., passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026 at his home.
Born November 14, 1946 in Whitsett, PA he was a son of the late Delbert Shahan Sr. and Agnes Strother Shahan.
A resident of Vanderbilt for the past 55 years, Mr. Shahan was a was retired from Irvin Works, where he worked as a Truck Driver for 30 years, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the US Army. He was a member of the Perryopolis VFW Gold Star Post 7023, American Legion Post 752, Perryopolis Sons & Daughters of Italy.
Throughout his life, Mr. Shahan enjoyed a variety of recreational activities including softball, bowling, horseshoes, and hunting. After retirement, he developed a passion for golf, frequently going on annual golf trips with friends to southern destinations. He also contributed his time working at the Springdale and Duck Hollow golf courses. He was also an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Lerch Shahan to whom he was married to for 57 years, daughter Toni Clark and husband Blaine of Irwin, son Delbert Shahan III and wife Susan of Youngwood; sister Fran Nagy of Perryopolis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother James Shahan, three sisters Nancy Aders, Kathleen Cramer, and Ruth Murphy.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 24 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by Military Honors presented at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.
The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Delbert ‘Bugeye’ Shahan Jr. to the Perryopolis VFW Goldstar Post 7023.
