Gerald Andrew Surak, 69, of McClellandtown, passed peacefully in his home Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by his wife, daughter, and loved ones after a lengthy battle with Metastatic Melanoma.

He was born May 29, 1957 in Uniontown.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Andrew J. Surak, Sr. and Anne Palencher Surak; and brothers, Andrew J. Surak, Jr. and Robert A. Surak.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Deborah Shaffer Surak; daughter, Jamie Mancini and son- in-law, Chris Mancini; his granddaughter, Anna Marie Mancini; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a lot of hunting buddies; and his special friend, Keith Swaney.

Gerald was a graduate of German High School, Class of 1975.

He was employed at Fruehauf Manufacturing, and Southwest Aluminum Glass from where he retired. He was a member of Glass Glaziers Union # 751.

Gerald was a member, usher, and active community member of Saint Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Farmington.

He also held membership in Mountain Lodge, Amend, State Line, Hutchinson, and Barton Hollow hunting clubs. He was an avid sportsman, loved his four cats, cherished his granddaughter greatly, and was a loving husband and father.

Gerald was a handyman at everything, always fixing something.

The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 6. Everyone is invited to his Funeral Mass at Saint Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 3523 National Pike, Farmington, PA 15437 Friday, August 7, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Georges Township.
