Leona Joyce Olesko, age 85, of Adah, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 7, 1940, in Wynn, PA, daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Leona Guthrie Beatty.
Her happiest days were spent in the comfort of her own home alongside her family and her dog, Woody. She leaves them with fond memories of pumpkin pies and nut rolls fresh out of the oven, chats about her numerous plants, endless Hallmark movie marathons, and lively card games and puzzles around the table.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Andrew Olesko Jr., and her siblings, Charles Beatty Jr. and Betty Beatty.
She is survived by her four children: Laura (Paul) Buckel, Andrea (Bob) Nelson, Diana (Chris) Bittinger, and Randy (Heather) Olesko; and her sisters, Charlotte White and Geraldine Howard.
Leona was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren: Paul (Janelle), Jacob (Katie), Julianne (Michael), Joshua, Emily, Jonathan, Chelsea (Anne), Jesse, Brandon (Kasey), Amanda (Joe), Jessica (John), Brianna (Dylan), Christopher, Blake (Haylee), Colton, and Garrett. She also had eight great-grandchildren, Arlo, Birdie, Charlie, Siena, Cooper, Mason, Maya, and Carson, with another on the way.
Friends received Sunday at The Dearth Funeral Home, 35 South Mill Street New Salem PA 15468 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday until transfer prayers at 10:15 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St Mary’s Nativity Church, Uniontown.
