Rowes Run
William Bentz, Sr., 85, of Rowes Run, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Ruby Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Genevieve Bentz; sister, Delores Mathers; and brother, Edward Bentz and wife, Shirley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Michele Bentz; daughter, Cathleen Bentz-Umbel (Gary) whom he adored; grandson, Christopher Bentz, who meant the world to him; great-grandchildren, Zyler and Arrianna Bentz, who were the light of his life; nephew, Terry Bentz; daughter-in-law, Beth Hepple; special granddaughters, Domonique Anderson and Remy Slavinsky, who held a special place in his heart; adopted daughter, Lisa Watson (David); and special family friend and nurse, Virginia Vojacek, special family friend, Tina Capatch, Walter Krazonoski and his pup, Minnie Me.

William was a former Westinghouse Nuclear Plant employee and one of the chief organizers of Local 66 in West Virginia. He was a member of the SJFG Club, Ruffsdale Gun Club and Twi-nite Trap Shooters League, and the Bear Hunters Club of N.C. He was an avid hunter for over 70 years including bear hunting in the swamps of North Carolina. He enjoyed trap shooting with all his friends in the league.
