Robert “Mousie” Koval, 79, of Brownsville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 30, 2026, in his home.

He was born October 2, 1946, in Brownsville, a son of the late Frank and Vivian Ventura Koval, Sr.

Mousie was a very proud veteran, serving with The United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He received The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Mousie was very proud of and always talked about his three grandsons. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan through the good and bad.

He was a very active member of the West Brownsville American Legion Post #940, where he served as commander in chief of the Post for many years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Carmichaels Post #3491, American Legion Riders Chapter 940, California Italian Club, and California Hill Gun Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Koval, Jr.; his nephew-in-law, David Judy; great-nephew, David Michel Judy; and great-niece, Sara Elizabeth Judy.

He is survived by his only daughter, Brandee Simpson and her husband, James “J.L.”; three grandsons, Matthew Edmond Chrobak and Emily, Benjamin Robert Chrobak, and Patrick Joseph Chrobak; his great-grandson, Malakai Joseph Chrobak; niece, Michelle Judy; great- nephew, Nicholas Judy; long-time dear friend, Carol Baniak; and his cat, Missy.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Thursday, June 4, from 2 to 7 p.m. Full Military Service and Honors will be held at 7 p.m., with American Legion Posts #940, #838 and #275 officiating. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies at a later date.
