Janet C. Ziots, 92, of Filbert, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her home.

She was born on March 28, 1934, in Brownfield, daughter of the late Albert and Pauline Sidwell.

Janet and her husband, William “Cotton” raised five children, instilling the belief in hard work and an honest life. Janet worked full time at Gee Bee/Value City Department Stores, kept a spotless home and still made time to cook hot meals and bake her family favorites. In recent years, Janet enjoyed just sitting on the porch as the weather permitted and going to the Dairy Queen for her large vanilla cone.

Janet was a former member of the former St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church of New Salem, and currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church of Footedale.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Cotton” Ziots; her daughter, Linda Connors; son-in-law, Eugene Connors; grandson, Danny Connors; daughter-in-law, Carla Ziots; brother, William Sidwell; and sisters, Judy Whetzel and Brenda O’Brien.

Janet is survived by her children, whom she loved dearly: William Ziots of Parker, Texas, Judy Ulery and husband, Randy of Filbert and Patricia “Trish” Burnett and husband, Mark of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren: Eugene (Lisa) Connors, Michael (Renee) Connors, Alexis Zawelensky, Megan (Madison) Mask, Brandon Ziots and fiancee, Georgia, Mark Burnett and Morgan Burnett; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Carson, Ava and Emily Connors; and sisters, Paulette Fisher and husband, Charles of Uniontown and Wendy Krumor and husband, Marty of Hermitage.

Also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in The DEARTH FUNERAL HOME 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 and until 9:30 a.m. where a Prayer Service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church of Footedale. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Bernadette Thomas, Marcia Stiner and Amedisys Hospice of Uniontown, especially Maranda Allen, RN and Ashlee Habrat for your dedication, love and respect shown to our mother. You will forever have a place in our hearts.
