Shirley L. Dennis, 90, of Markleysburg, passed peacefully Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Quality Life Services, Henry Clay.
She was born November 25, 1935, in Uniontown, the daughter of the late Glenn and Ellen Brown Langley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Dennis.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Lawrence J. “LJ” Dennis; her children, Todd Dennis (Amy) of Newell, and Robin Boob of Cresson; grandchildren, Kelsey, Adam, Amanda, Bailey; great- grandchildren, Kendra, Rilyn, Nolan, Silas, and Sage; his sister, Janet Breakiron; and brother, Larry Langley.
Shirley was a dedicated educator who retired after 25 years of teaching at Intermediate Unit 1. Prior to her teaching career, she worked in the Langley family greenhouse.
She was an avid golfer and enjoyed stock car and dirt track racing. Shirley also volunteered at Fort Necessity during the annual encampment. She had a true love for animals.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Farmington, Friday, September 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, September 5, from 10 until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kenneth Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery.
