Dan Coats departure not a surprise
A troubling and dangerous trend continues in the revolving door presidential administration of Donald Trump: reasonable voices of intellect and objectivity are being replaced one by one with sycophants, those who are willing to adopt Trump’s illogical mindset and to tell him only what he wants to hear.
The latest to exit will be the Honorable Dan Coats, Director of National Intelligence and a patriot. His independence has reportedly placed him on thin ice with Trump for some time, Coats’ clear-eyed vision of the world differing from that of Trump most notably vis-a-vis North Korea, Iran, and Russia. Coats does not believe that one can change the world by charming ruthless dictators for whom the president declares his love.
Dan Coats’ departure is not surprising, but it is ominous, and it demonstrates the heightened danger which will be inflicted on the nation if we were to make the mistake of granting Donald Trump another four years to engage in the degeneration of a once-great America.
