The silence is deafening

By Adam Sedlock 2 min read

After the GOP vile, hate filled, dart board incident at the Fayette County Fair we have not heard but from but one GOP elected official or GOP candidate.

The Fayette County GOP has removed the dartboard and “stuff a sock in their mouth” corn holes from the Fay County fair.

If it were not for the local and national media attention to these vile intimidation methods, based upon the remarks of the Fayette County GOP chair, Bill Kozlovich, this “fun” would have continued.

It appears that the Fay County GOP endorsement of hate speech is reflective upon the members and candidates. If they wish for this to stop, they must provide their leadership with such input.

As recent events both at home and in our nation, there is no room in this county and nation for continued social decline by support of such behaviors.

The Fayette County GOP has demonstrated to the nation how vile and negative hate speech perpetuates within our county. Ironically I know of many county Republicans who respect human decency and do not condone the efforts set forth by their leadership.

We are in need of county leaders who stand up for decency not perpetuation of hate speech and white supremacy. GOP candidates and elected officials, your silence is acceptance of this vile behavior and presents a negative example to businesses, educational institutions, citizens, our children and grandchildren. You’re silence is acceptance and supportive of hate speech, neo nazis, and white supremacy.

It is now time for GOP candidates and elected officials to show their moral character and demonstrate the professionalism of their office and break their self imposed silence. If you care, you will speak. We can no longer pretend that this is “fun and games”.
