Local restaurant’s ‘thank you” a welcomed surprise
On Veteran’s Day, my wife and I decided to grab a bite to eat before going grocery shopping. What a pleasant experience it was when we ended up at Applebee’s in Uniontown. The receptionist greeted us with a genuine smile and a “thank you” for my service. Our waiter was a smiling, respectful young man who chatted about the many servicemen in his family’s history, while informing me that I was entitled to a free meal.
He also asked if I would like a free beer, made available by a group of thankful, private citizens. My thanks to Applebee’s, the local management and workers, and the private citizens for their kindness. I couldn’t have asked for a better Veteran’s Day.
