Veteran reunion held in Mill Run

1 min read

Each year, on the second Sunday in September, the 429th Engineer Battalion holds its annual Army reunion in Mill Run. This year marked the ninth reunion of veterans and fellow members who attended the event with service during the Korean War, Vietnam War and Desert Shield/Desert Storm, past and current operations. The Uniontown “hometown” battalion inactivated in April 1993.

The first 50 attendees were awarded a commemorative coin with the inscription: “Veteran of the United States Army” and the reverse side “429th Engineer Battalion 1951- 1993).

A sunny afternoon, with the help of retirees Debbie Abbott and Radar Lewis, attendees signed in by noon. Announcements provided, Chuck McDowell played TAPS for fallen Soldiers, a catered meal provided, fellowship, and activities completed the day.

The biggest thank you goes to CW5 Daun Arsenberger (Ret.), reunion committee chairman, and for planning building, and maintaining this annual event.
